WE'RE HAVING OUR CHRISTMAS MILONGA ON WEDNESDAY 14 DECEMBER!!!
This is a lovely special occasion and the culmination of the year--with food and refreshments, Christmas decorations and atmosphere. We've really missed Felix and Isobel this year, and we've invited them to join us for the Milonga. I'm delighted to say that that they have accepted and will be coming over from Exeter to be with us on the 14th.

It is the perfect time to join us if you haven't been along for a bit and would like to meet old friends and re-acquaint yourself with the joys of the dance. It's also the perfect occasion to bring new friends along to introduce them to the idea of improvised Argentine Tango: to see what it's like, and maybe to get hooked! There will be tables around the dance floor, and you are welcome just sit and watch and enjoy the music.

In full swing!!

Our Autumn season of Tango sessions is now in full swing--we've welcomed back old friends, and we're very pleased to see the new faces who've just joined us. If you are thinking of coming along, don't hesitate. We're there every Wednesday evening, starting at 8pm, and all are welcome. Bring a partner if you can, and some fairly slippy shoes. No formal lessons, but plenty of people to help you get started, and a warm welcome assured.

Dear all
As we move towards the new term and the nights draw in, I'd like to remind you of our Tango sessions on Wednesday evenings at 8pm. These take the form of an informal practica (practice), not a formal lesson, but everyone is welcome, beginners as well as more experienced dancers, so do feel free to join us even if you've not danced tango before, or have had only one or two lessons. And tell your friends!

It is good to bring a partner if you can, to keep the balance between leaders and followers, but we change partners and everyone dances with everyone else. There is no need to dress up or have special shoes. We start at 8, but if you aren't able to make it for then, feel free to join later: we generally finish around 10.30 to 11pm. We're a small group, and balanced in terms of leaders/followers. We look forward to seeing those who've been away for the summer, and welcoming new faces!

Spring is here...

..or maybe even summer! Our tango practicas on Wednesday evenings continue, and you are very welcome to join us. No formal class, but beginners are welcome and our more experienced dancers are there to help. No need to bring a partner--we are a balanced group of leaders and followers and we change partners throughout the evening. Look forward to seeing you!

First of all a big thank you to all of you who made it to our Christmas Milonga and commiserations to those snowed in or otherwise unable to come. We had a great evening, with a really good turnout, and it was wonderful to see so many old friends. We hope to see you all again soon!

We are having a break over the holidays now, and there won't be a practica this week, next week or the week after. We return on 12 January for the New Year, and very much hope to see you all then.

This is a lovely social occasion and the culmination of the year--the time when we say 'thank you' to Felix and Isobel and let our hair down and have fun (not that we don't do that every Wednesday!).

It is the perfect time to bring new friends along to introduce them to the idea of improvised Argentine Tango: to see what it's like, and maybe to get hooked!

It's also the perfect occasion to join us if you haven't been along for a bit and would like to meet old friends and re-acquaint yourself with the joys of the dance.

There will be food and refreshments, Christmas decorations and atmosphere--and Felix is providing a selection of favorites to dance to.

More Tango this autumn!

These take the form of an informal practica (practice), not a formal lesson, but Felix helps people individually and gives advice and instruction. Felix and Isabel are experienced teachers who give lessons at several venues in Wales and England, and it's wonderful to see them dance. Their Arts Centre classes are not running this year, unfortunately, so do come to our Wednesday sessions instead!

We welcome beginners as well as more experienced dancers: we have several beginners as part of the group, so do feel free to join us even if you've not danced tango before, or have had only one or two lessons. And tell your friends! No need to bring a partner--we change partners and everyone dances with everyone else--and no need to dress up or have special shoes. Join us for our CHRISTMAS MILONGA on Wednesday 9 December 2009, in our usual venue, the Quaker Meeting House in Penparcau, Aberystwyth. All friends from Aber and further afield are welcome. There will be food and refreshments, and music provided by Felix. Contributions to the refreshments are welcome--just bring what you can, if you can: everyone is welcome to share, even if you can't bring anything. There will be a small charge of £2 each to cover the hall. We will start at 8pm and run through until midnight.

Do come--even if you haven't managed to dance much tango recently, and even if you've never danced before. For those not too familiar with the jargon, in a milonga we dance just for the fun of it--and you're welcome to watch or join in as you wish. It's a good opportunity to just come along and see what's happening--and an especial welcome is extended to people who haven't been to our Wednesdays yet, particularly those of you that have been attending Felix's classes in the Arts Centre. Midsummer Tango News!

We are taking a brief break from tango for two weeks: there will be no practica on 17 or 24 June. We start again on 1 July and sessions will run through the summer.

Do come and join us for a fresh start on Wednesday 1 July--put it in your diary now. It is a great opportunity for those of you who haven't been for a while to come along again and take advantage of the beautiful summer evenings to relax, enjoy the dance and polish your skills. Newcomers are very welcome, as always. We are looking forward to welcoming back regulars Wayne and Linda in July as well.

Our teachers Felix and Isabel are in great demand these days. They teach in Cardiff, Swansea, Shrewsbury and Hereford on a regular basis. We are so fortunate that they are based here in Aber. Come and experience their thoughtful and friendly teaching style--and watch them dance!

Tango 2009!!

I hope you had a fantastic festive season and enjoyed the sunshine, despite tango deprivation! We resume on Wednesday 14 January at 8pm--and then we meet every Wednesday evening at the same time. A warm welcome is extended to you all--old timers and new friends alike, complete beginners and incomplete beginners too. Felix will be teaching for the first hour, a class suitable for all levels and especially tailored to everyone who is there that week, with lots of individual attention. And then we will have a practica--a practice--until about 10.30 or 11, where we have fun dancing and do some work on what we've learned as well. Do come along. No partner needed, since we change partners anyway, and no special dress--just a pair of reasonably slippy-soled shoes will make things easier. If you can make it every week all the better, but if not, just drop in when you can.

Welcome back from hopefully a restful summer to the beautiful late September weather! In addition to the weekly class (starting at 8pm) and practica until late, which continues every Wednesday in Penparcau, three items of interest:-

First, Felix is running a course again at the Arts Centre on Fridays, beginning on 3 October: contact the box office at the Arts Centre to book.

Second, there is a weekend of workshops and milongas in Shrewsbury. I haven't got full details yet, but the dates are 10-11 October, and Debbie and Steve Morrell from the New Forest are the guest teachers. I'll circulate the details when I have them.
