Tango Lessons

Tango lessons start on 1 October 2015 in the Aberystwyth University Arts Centre.
Day: Thursday; Time: 7.30-9pm.
Cost: £20 (£18) for 5 sessions.
A FREE taster session is organised on 24 September 2015.
Come and learn tango in a friendly and relaxed environment.
The classes will cover basic tango techniques, posture, the embrace, walking and rhythm, expression and musicality. We shall familiarise ourselves with different tango music rhythms (Tango, Vals & Milonga) so we can begin to dance in the milonga (the tango dance space) with different dance partners. Also, some history and etiquette for tango dancers will be provided during the classes.

What to wear:
  • Shoes with a back on them – flip flops or slip ons are not dance friendly
  • Shoes that are comfortable
  • Shoes that will pivot and slide easily on the floor
  • Comfortable clothes – clothes you can move in comfortably
  • It seems obvious but please: Use deodorant and brush your teeth!
For more information, please contact the Arts Centre BOX OFFICE: 01970 62 32 32.

Tango Live Musc in Cardigan: 10 April 2015

The Alejandro Ziegler Quartet began in Buenos Aires in 2007 and the ensemble has a distinct style of tango music, reflecting both innovation and tradition. They play in the style of Di Sarli, Pugliese, Troilo and Gobbi among others. Various grooves and different ornaments reveal the members personal playing styles and on stage the communication between the four musicians is allowing, expressive, playful and tight. They flirt with a chamber musical expression, while remaining spontaneous and enjoying the improvisation found in popular music. Alejandro Ziegler’s own compositions come alive through surprising arrangements as well as intimate interplay. With their unique mix of tango, improvisation and romantique, they have gained territory all over the world with their special sound. Don’t miss this complete musical experience!
Alejandro and the musicians are used to performing for dancers, so Small World Theatre will create a dance floor space to the side of the seating area and in view of the stage. We advise parties to book ahead. £12 tickets can be bought online through smallworld.org.uk.  For further information, please contact Small World Theatre 01239 615 952.
