Free Lessons and Practica: 12 November - 10 December 2014
We will be holding a FREE tango practice session (practica) every Wednesday from this week (12th November) onwards.
Date(s): Wednesdays up to and including 10 December 2014
Time: 5-7pm
Venue: Rehearsal Room 3, Parry Williams Building (next to RR2, where we were during the 4 week course with Paul).
The building is on the Penglais Campus of Aberystwyth University, in the Theatre, Film and Television Studies (TFTS) Department.
For further information, please contact Lara at lak9@aber.ac.uk
It would be good to see all those who attended the course with Paul, to refresh and improve the steps and information that was passed to us, and also to practice a bit of dancing. Newcomers are also welcome to join the group.

Exciting news--and changing of the guard...
Dear all
First of all the exciting news. We are in the process of organising our first Milonga in conjunction with Aberystwyth Arts Centre. It will be held on Friday 13 February 2015, in the round Studio next to the bar on the top floor of the Arts Centre. Do put the date in your diary, and spread the word. Tickets will be available at £6 from the Arts Centre box office. The studio is a fabulous space, with a wonderful floor, and traditional music will be provided by Paul Holland.
Eight years ago Steve Wade, who founded AberTango along with Andrew, passed the key on to me. The time has come for me to pass it on in my turn, and Marco Odello has kindly agree to take over with support from Karoline Gritzner. They will be in touch with everyone shortly about forthcoming events.
Many thanks for all your support: Linda and Wayne for being part of the club all the way through; other regulars across the years, too numerous to list, but whose support was invaluable in keeping the group alive and thriving; Felix and Isabel for their work as our resident teachers; Paul and Lara for recent classes and workshops; and most of all Steve Wade for turning up every week and keeping us sane--and for his wonderful dancing!

Tango break
Dear all
We have arrived at the time of year when members of Abertango migrate to warmer climes for the summer or leave Aber for a well deserved vacation, so we are taking a break from tango for the present--there will be no further practicas in Penparcau for the moment. I do hope to see people at other events during the summer. There are classes with Paul continuing on Penglais campus (I think the next may be in June): do join these if you haven't already. There are wonderful milongas (and classes) in Cardiff (http://www.tangoincardiff.com/) and Swansea (http://www.tangoessence.co.uk/), as well as Hereford and Bristol, and events such as Tango Feast (http://www.vidadetango.co.uk/events/events.html) and Tango Tank (http://www.tango.uk.com/workshops.htm) so there are plenty of opportunities to continue dancing.
Best wishes

Dinner at Casablanca followed by Tango - 7th May
Dear all,
Instead of the usual practica at the Quaker Hall on Wednesday 7th
May, there is the opportunity of booking a meal at Casablanca,
Aberystwyth with members of Aberystwyth Tango group. We have permission
from the owner to dance after dinner at Casablanca
providing the restaurant is not too full. If it is not convenient to
dance at Casablanca we will go back to the Quaker hall later in the
evening to tango. Ladies please bring a partner if you can as they are
in short supply!
Casablanca serves Turkish food and you can bring your own bottle. If you wish to reserve places, please contact Linda Hodson: hodson.linda2@gmail.com by
Saturday 3rd May at the latest.
Please note that the Quaker Hall will not be opening for a general
practica on 7th May. Members may be returning there late in the evening
to continue dancing, but this cannot be guaranteed.
The next practica at Penparcau is tomorrow, 23rd April in the
Quaker hall as usual. We look forward to seeing you there and hope you
will email Linda to arrange a table at Casablanca for dinner and a
Tango.
Best wishes

Tango on Wednesdays!!
Hi everyone
We have our usual Practica in Penparcau at 8pm - 11pm on Wednesday this week and every week (unless we have to cancel, in which case I will email round). Practica is tangoese for 'practice', so no class or lessons but plenty of opportunity to practice and just to dance. Bring a partner if possible, but if not, come along anyway. No need to dress up, but slippy shoes are a good idea as always. If you have just begun lessons, this is an ideal opportunity to try out what you've learned, and to watch more experienced dancers. Everyone welcome!

Tango class with Paul Holland
Dear all,
Another great opportunity for those interested in Argentine Tango: Paul Holland is coming up from Swansea again to give a class at the TFTS Department (Parry Williams Building, Rehearsal Room 1; this is downstairs, a floor below last time's studio, but I'll be checking the foyer intermittently before we start in case
anyone gets lost) on March the 29th, 1-4pm.
The fee is £5 per person, please bring exact change. This is the first in a series of classes that cater to all levels of experience. You don't need to have a partner to participate. Please note your interest to me (laramaleenkipp@googlemail.com) by midday on March 28th at the latest. I hope to see many of you there.

Two weeks off: Back on 26 February
Dear all
We had to cancel our tango yesterday, and I hope you all survived the storms: it was quite something! I'm afraid there will be no tango on the 19 February either, but we will be back the following week, 26 February. Looking forward to seeing you all then!
